There has been an increase in coyote activity and sightings in the community lately. The City of Huntington Beach has a webpage with helpful information on coyotes and other wildlife. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife also has a website with good information and a video on the coyote issue in the state covering the rules and guidelines of dealing with coyotes and other wild animals.

Some preventive measures you can take at home:

• Keep pet food indoors and do not leave food of any kind outside at night. Food left out at night will be taken as a welcome invitation by wildlife, and may prompt a future visit.
• Keep cats and small dogs indoors or in the close presence of an adult.
• Remove any fruit which has fallen to the ground.
• Store trash in covered, heavy-duty containers.
• Keep yards free from potential shelter such as thick brush and weeds, and enclose the bottoms of porches and decks.
• Eliminate garbage, debris, lumber piles, etc.
• Check fencing and try to eliminate access points to roof tops.

A friendly reminder to leash pets, pick up after pets and keep pets out of the pool and tennis court areas. Owners are required to pick up after their pets immediately in the common areas and exclusive use decks and patio areas. Seabridge HOA will issue warning letters and can impose a fine on the owner of the pet up to $750.00 for failure to comply.

Additionally, Orange County’s animal law states, “A person having custody of any animal shall not permit, either willfully or through failure to exercise due care or control, any such animal to defecate upon any public area, private property, county park or beach. The person having custody of any animal shall immediately remove any feces deposited by such animal”. Pet owners, please leash your pet (s), as per local Orange County and California Laws.

There have been some incidents of theft reported inside the community recently. Any incidents should be reported to the Huntington Beach Police right away by calling 714-960-8811. The city also has an online reporting page using the link below:

Residents are reminded to secure their property by locking their doors, parking inside their garage and arranging for package delivery while they are home. It is important to notify the police of every occurrence of theft so that they have a record of the incident and can respond appropriately when called. The upcoming Boat Parade will also be a time when many people will be in and around the area and maybe on the docks. Please remember to secure your property.

The Board of Directors has established temporary pool hours to correspond with the timer on the pool gates. The pool gate timer is set for Daylight Savings Time and can not be adjusted until the new gate controller system is installed. The gate vendor does not have a firm date yet for this update and hopes to schedule it soon. The gate controller affects the pool gates programing and all fobs/transmitters.

The temporary pool hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. If you are locked in the pool area at any time, there is an emergency exit button next to the electrical closet that opens the pool gate door next to the clubhouse.

Ordering a bulk item pick up from Republic Services has not gone very smoothly this year and the reason is that there was a miscommunication between their customer service department and the bulk item pickup group. The information we received earlier in the year from customer service about free pickups is wrong and was only for residential accounts. Seabridge HOA is a commercial account, not residential, so there are no free pickups. Homeowners must pay a nominal fee of $26.32 for each bulk item pickup. The service is still offered and is a relative bargain, it’s just not free. Call Republic Services (formerly Rainbow) at 714-847-3581 and use the HOA account number 3-0605-0072036 when ordering. Any items longer than 6 feet will not be picked up.
